Summer Concert 2010
An Atlantic Crossing.
This concert was a celebration of folksongs from both sides of the Atlantic which have served as inspiration for many composers. The influence of folksong can clearly be heard in Five Mystical Songs, settings of George Herbert’s poetry for choir and baritone soloist by Vaughan Williams. The concert also included modern arrangements of three well-loved Scots songs and a selection of songs by the American Aaron Copland.
